Carrying out the assessment

If the local authority has agreed to carry out a full assessment, they will start gathering information about your child. Please note this does not mean that your child will definitely get an EHC plan. The local authority must seek advice and information from a range of people. This must include: the parents the school an educational psychologist (EP) health and social care services any relevant professionals involved with your child They must return this within six weeks of the request. Complaints about Education Services If you have a grievance or would like to comment on the treatment you have received from the education system, there are procedures that you can follow in order to make your voice heard. Details and advice on how to make a complaint about an Education Service, school, nursery or Family Centre can be found on the Sheffield City Council Website . You can talk to Customer Services on the telephone to do this or complete an online form. If following a school's complaints procedure has not resolved the issue, you can also complain to the Department for Education, Ofsted or the Education Funding Agency.
