Sheffield Local Assistance Scheme

The purpose of the Local Assistance Scheme (LAS) is to support independent living and help Sheffield residents in crisis situations with an identified need that cannot be met from another source. This service replaced Crisis Loans and Community Care Grants that were previously administered by the Department for Work and Pensions.

The Local Assistance Scheme administers Sheffield Crisis Grants and Sheffield Independence Grants.

Applicants must live in Sheffield, be aged 16 years or over and have insufficient income to meet their needs.  Applicants can be awarded a maximum of 2 Crisis Grants and 1 Independence Grant in any 12 month period, regardless of any change in circumstances.

Further criteria must also be met in order to qualify for the Local Assistance Scheme. Please see the website for more information.
