Sosa-Xa Choir (Sounds of Southern Africa)
Sosa-Xa (Sounds of Sothern Africa ) is a friendly inter-cultural community choir open to all. United by our love of Southern African music we learn to sing by ear and move Mbube style. We have a lot of fun and welcome new members. No previous experience is required.
Our choir leader Tonde provides extra support for beginners and the less confident from 7pm ahead of the main choir meeting at 7.30pm. You can find sample videos and song tracks on our facebook page and website.
We perform at local festivals, celebrations, and other events and fundraise to support community arts and youth projects in Zimbabwe. The choir was founded by members of Sunduza Dance Theatre from Buloweyo (www.sunduza.org) and we have maintained strong links with their projects in southern Africa.
The choir meets every Monday in term time in the centre of Sheffield at the Quaker Meeting House,10 St James St, Sheffield S1 2EW.
