Hallam Cricket Club
Hallam is one of the oldest cricket clubs and plays on arguably the oldest club ground in Yorkshire. Now we have two grounds - at Sandygate and Crimicar Lane and run 24 different teams. Hallam’s interest is firmly in the future of the game.
For seniors, we have six Saturday league teams - our 1st XI play in the YCSPL Championship, our 2nd XI in the 2nd Division and our 3rd XI in the 5th division, while our 4th,5th and 6th XIs play in the 1st, 3rd and 4th divisions of the Yorkshire & Derbyshire Cricket League.
We also have a Wednesday evening team in the 1st division of the Sheffield Midweek Alliance, a Sunday Friendly side with fixtures every week and we're very keen to promote Women's and Girls' cricket with regular girls-only practices. So there is plenty of good cricket at all levels for anyone wishing to join.
The club now has over 200 juniors who play all year round, with winter coaching from November to April, good links with schools, matches in term time in the Ben Jessop and North Derbyshire leagues and cricket camps, four days a week, all through the summer holidays.
Many boys and girls go on to represent Sheffield and Yorkshire in their age group teams. With group coaching and one-to-one coaching and a really friendly, supportive atmosphere, the club is really doing its best for youngsters. In 2021 we had 320 All Stars (5-7 year olds) and Dynamos (8-11 year olds), more than any other club in the country!
Many of our juniors, both boys and girls, have gone on to represent Sheffield, South Yorkshire and the full Yorkshire team at age-group level. In 2016, our U15s were 3rd in the country in the ECB National Club Championships.
We are a really sociable, welcoming club. If you'd like to join or would just like to find out more about us, please contact our secretary, Richard Storer.
