Langsett and Walkley Community Association (LWCA)

LWCA is based at the The Bungalow, 196 Whitehouse Lane (what3words: lance, wisdom, equal), and is run by volunteer tenants and residents.

All activities and resources we provide are open to all residents to access through membership of the Association. Sheffield Council tenants are automatic members of the TARA through the 10p levy fee included in their weekly rent. Private tenants, leaseholders and homeowners who reside within the TARA boundary can become members by paying a £5 annual membership fee.

We hold meetings on the second Tuesday of each month, starting at 7p.m at The Bungalow and meetings are open to all tenants and members.

Outside representatives from various organisations are invited to meetings as and when demand dictates or at the request of members. These may be from local organisations such as: The Zest Community, Sheffield City Council Housing and other SCC Departments, South Yorkshire Police, and often one or more of the Walkley Ward Councillors are present at meetings. The Association boundary: tbc.

An important part of what the Association does is to promote a better relationship with Sheffield City Council Housing Services and the tenants in the area. It campaigns on issues to benefit the community such as housing issues or the environmental matters affecting the area.

The Association works together to improve the physical conditions of where you live, campaigns for better facilities and to create or improve the sense of the community. LWCA can also forward queries, questions, and request help for tenants and residents should the need arise.

We also arrange occasional social events, including the Dog Walkers' Pop-up Cafe on Langsett Field between Burnaby Green and Grammar Street (what3words: duck, cafe, baked) and usually provide two annual trips per year; one to the seaside and one to a venue for Xmas shopping.
