Ryegate House Respite Unit
Ryegate House is a fully accessible six bed respite unit with facilities specially designed for children and young people with complex health needs and disabilities.
It provides a safe and comfortable environment, inside and out, where children and young people can enjoy their stay.
The house is staffed by qualified and support staff who aim to meet the needs of each child by conducting and producing individualised and detailed assessements and care plans.
Stays at Ryegate House can be booked as far in advance as a year. Please bear in mind that weekends and school holidays get very busy. To try and be fair to all families that use our service we suggest that no more than 50% of your allocated stays should be used at these times.
To ensure that families feel confident about the care that their child receives, we carry out a pre-visit check over the phone 24 hours before a stay to make sure we have the right information about medication and other health related issues. Even if your child has stayed with us in the past, we do this check before each visit.
The arrival time for respite care is after 2pm on the day of your stay.
We welcome referrals from families, nursing staff, social workers, medical staff or any other professional that works with children.
Before making a referral you must have obtained consent from the child or young person if appropriate and their main carer.
New referral should be sent to Sheffieldccg.childrenscc@nhs.net using the referral form found on the Ryegate House website.
