Deerlands Residential Care Home
Deerlands is a welcoming, accessible building - all on one floor with no stairs or lifts, making it easy for everyone to move around. It’s bright inside with lots of access to outdoor spaces, and we’re located in a friendly community. Many of our staff live nearby and walk to work. We’re close to the local working men’s club, shops, and transport links, which residents and their families appreciate, along with our good value for money.
Our staff are friendly, caring, and very experienced, bringing a lot of local knowledge. We hire people who are naturally kind and committed to providing the best care.
We have a day center and a minibus, so our residents enjoy regular activities and outings. One resident even loves joining on the bus route to pick up others! We go on trips to places like Boundary Mills, The Deep, and sometimes just for errands like a visit to Asda. Residents also enjoy outings to country pubs and local events, such as entertainment and dementia support at Parsons Cross Forum. We use the nearby Colley Club for larger events and celebrations.
With two activity coordinators, our residents can enjoy one-on-one activities like nail care, arts and crafts, chair exercises, and pet therapy with ponies, dogs, and other animals. We also host regular visits from singers, entertainers, and magicians.
Our home-cooked meals are a real highlight. The cooks chat with residents to learn their preferences, and they make classic English favorites like stews, chicken pot pies, and a range of baked goods, as well as curries for those who enjoy spicy food. When you walk in, you can smell the delicious food cooking—a true “Bisto moment”!
Deerlands is a cozy, homely space with bedrooms that residents can personalise. We have three lounges, a secure garden, and a large function room used for entertainment, parties, exercises, and church services. The day centre has an additional space with its own entrance, which families can use for private gatherings; one family recently celebrated an 80th birthday here.
Our staff often say Deerlands is a wonderful place to work, and many stay for years—one person who joined as a temporary job is still with us ten years later.
We provide residential, dementia, day and respite care. The home has 40 beds.
