Cath James, Traditional folk fiddle tuition

Traditional folk fiddle lessons offered by friendly and experienced teacher, one to one. Music from the Celtic traditions and beyond, specialising in Irish, Scottish and Cape Breton music. Complete beginners to advanced players welcome, also classical violin players wanting to "convert" their skills.

Knowledge of music theory and music reading not essential. All welcome from aged 7-75 years. Weekly fiddle lessons are recommended, 45 mins for adults, 30 mins for under 16s. A limited supply of hire instruments are usually available to students.

Qualifications: Certificate of Teaching from Associated Board of Royal School of Music (CT ABRSM); Grade VIII violin (ABRSM); Grade VII music theory (ABRSM). Also BBC2 Young Tradition Award finalist 1995, Neil Gow International Fiddle Composition award finalist 2008 and Amber Fiddle finalist 2011.

£31 (adult, 45 mins) per lesson; £21 (under 16s, 30 mins) per lesson
