Childcare Support

Childcare can be expensive but there is support available towards the costs of childcare. This page will cover some of the support options that may be available to you. 

The government’s Childcare Choices website provides information on the different support available and a eligibility checker, helping parents find the right childcare support to suit them.

Holiday Activities and Food (HAF) Programme

The aim of Sheffield Healthy Holidays is to make sure that children are happy and healthy during the holidays

If your child is in reception to year 11 and gets benefits-related free school meals, you may be able to access free activities through the Sheffield Healthy Holidays programme.

Choosing a childcare provider

You will need to choose one or more eligible childcare providers that have the capacity to offer you a childcare place/s for the hours you need.

Additional charges may apply for certain services at specific childcare providers, and not all entitlements may be available at all times of day.  Please check with providers for any restrictions or additional charges.
